about

This is a super introspective song for me. It took me a while to write this one. I had some parts and would sit in front of my computer for hours a day just trying to think of what to do with them. With a lot of help from Brenda I was finally able to make it all work together as a song. This is probably the best mixed song aI've done so far. I'm really happy with the way this one turned out.

lyrics

It always hits me when I least expect it
Spiraling down
Upon myself
And I can’t get away

Just burn it down and watch the flames consume it all
Then turn my back
And leave the ashes where they lay

The ends justify the means
If the means
Can justify themselves
In the end
But that’s just not the case

No concern from me
Why should I even care
Just leave me alone
Let me rule this place

But for all the good I see
I surely would’ve lit the match
My friends, my family
All the ones that I hold dear

So much in this world
Giving cause to celebrate
Hold it all close
Keep it all near

I’ll fight for all I love
For love is always worth the cost
So much to defend
From my other self

Can’t let it slip Can’t let it get away
Into the world
I’ll fight until I overcome
I’ll bite the bit that’s kept me held

Try to ignore it but it grows inside
My head
Can’t separate it
From reality

Little lapse
A sudden slip
Is all it needs
To rise up
Corrupting everything I see

I never know what happens next
But in the end
It’s all the same
I find my self
Staring at the wall

What has happened here
How did it go this far
Leave me alone
Let me keep control

I won’t be giving in
To my internal enemy
This time I hold my ground
Refuse to live my life in fear

So much left to do
So many chords that resonate
Written on the staff
For all you to hear

Ill write down what I know
Though what I knew is mostly lost
So much to amend
And put back on the shelf

I can’t forget can’t let it
Fall away into the void
I’ll write until my song is done
Ill right the ship and take the helm
